EARLY BIRD DATES APPLY!
"Paingana" is a play on "Pengana", a notoriously steep slope situated adjacent Woolshed Gully in Cleland Conservation Park.
What years ago was used as a training course in preparation for The North Face 100 event near Sydney has become a challenge now issued to everyone.
Five mind-numbing quad-busting 10km loops, with the associated five ascents of Pengana is going to test even the most strong willed amongst runners.
But you can also choose to embrace the pain, and turn this into "PleasureGana"!
Paingana consists of two events: a 50km and a 30km.
Both events take in the same loop course within Cleland. Each loop is slightly less than 10km. So what have we done to make up the extra distance?
Why we've added more climbing of course!
To make up the extra distance, entrants will have to complete a set number of ascents of Long Ridge Lookout. If you're in the 50km you have to go twice, and once if you're in the 30km.
The fun part is, you get to choose when you do this! Do the climbs in your first one or two laps? Or leave it until later? There will be some strategy in this for many runners!
There is also a Teams category, whereby two or more people can run a leg each. The team pays the equivalent of one solo entry, so one person just needs to enter then let me know other member names and emails in the Notes section of the entry form.
Get your quads warmed up!
Not up for the longer events? How about come and do a 10km "hot lap" of the Paingana course! Every finisher still receives a finisher's medal, and the male and female winner will also be crowned King and Queen of Pengana!
